Tucson Personal Injury Lawyer

Tucson is Southern Arizona's largest city, the seat of Pima County, and home to the region's only ACS-verified Level I trauma center. An injury claim here is an Arizona claim, decided under Arizona law.

Arizona law, not California's

Boyd Johnson is licensed in Arizona as well as California. How long you have to file, and what happens when a government vehicle or road is involved, are different here. Read how Arizona differs before you assume anything about your deadline.

Walking and riding in Tucson

Tucson has a large population of people who walk and ride bikes, including thousands of University of Arizona students, and the city has adopted its own pedestrian safety action plan. Pedestrian deaths in the Tucson area have risen sharply in recent years.

If you were hit on foot or on a bike, the driver's insurer will very likely say you were in the wrong place. Read pedestrian accidents and bicycle accidents for how those arguments are answered.

Who writes the report

  • City streets — the Tucson Police Department
  • The I-10 and the I-19 — the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • Unincorporated Pima County — the Pima County Sheriff's Department

Get the report number at the scene if you can. If not, note the agency, the date and the nearest cross streets or milepost.

Where the injured are taken

Banner University Medical Center Tucson is the only ACS-verified Level I trauma center in Southern Arizona, and the most seriously injured people in and around Tucson are often taken there. Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital on North Wilmot Road is also designated a Level I trauma center by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Wherever you were treated, ask for your records and keep every bill and discharge sheet.

Where the case would be heard

Tucson is in Pima County. An injury lawsuit from a crash here would be filed in the Pima County Superior Court, at 110 West Congress Street downtown. Most cases settle before trial.
