Common Questions

faqs.

We know this process can feel overwhelming. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.

01 How much does it cost to hire Johnson Injury Law? +

Nothing upfront. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means you pay us nothing unless we win your case. Our fee comes out of the settlement or verdict we obtain for you.

02 How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in California? +

In most cases, you have two years from the date of the injury to file a personal injury lawsuit in California (California Code of Civil Procedure Section 335.1). However, there are exceptions that can shorten or extend this deadline, so it's important to consult with an attorney as soon as possible.

03 What should I do immediately after an accident? +

Seek medical attention right away, even if you think you're fine. Call 911 and get a police report. Document the scene with photos and video. Exchange information with the other parties. Do NOT admit fault or give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurance. Then call us for a free consultation.

04 How much is my case worth? +

Every case is different. The value depends on factors like the severity of your injuries, the cost of your medical treatment, lost wages, pain and suffering, and the available insurance coverage. We evaluate each case individually and fight for the maximum compensation possible.

05 Do I have to go to court? +

Most personal injury cases settle before going to trial. However, we prepare every case as if it's going to court. If the insurance company won't offer a fair settlement, we're ready and willing to take your case to trial.

06 What if the other driver doesn't have insurance? +

You may still be able to recover compensation through your own uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage. We can review your policy and help you understand your options.

07 How long does a personal injury case take? +

Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the case, the severity of injuries, and whether the case settles or goes to trial. Some cases resolve in a few months; others can take a year or more. We keep you informed every step of the way.

08 Will I have to pay my medical bills out of pocket? +

Not necessarily. We work with medical providers who treat on a lien basis, meaning they wait to be paid out of your settlement. We also help coordinate your health insurance or MedPay coverage to ensure your treatment is covered while your case is pending.

09 Do you speak Spanish? +

Yes. Boyd Johnson is fluent in Spanish after serving a two-year mission in Argentina. We're able to serve our Spanish-speaking clients in their native language.

10 What areas do you serve? +

We're based in Aliso Viejo, CA and serve clients throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire, and all of Southern California.
