Huntington Beach Personal Injury Lawyer

Huntington Beach has miles of coastline, Pacific Coast Highway running the length of it, and more e-bikes every summer than the year before. Most of the serious injuries here come out of that mix.

E-bikes

The city has said plainly that e-bike crashes are a growing problem. By its own count, e-bike collisions in Huntington Beach roughly doubled between 2022 and 2024, and about half of them involved riders under 18. In 2025 the police department started its own e-bike safety program for students.

An e-bike crash raises questions an ordinary bike crash does not: whether the bike was really an e-bike under the law or something faster, whose insurance answers when a minor was riding, and whether a driver who hit a fast-moving rider will try to blame the speed. If your child was hurt, or you were hit by a rider, call before you talk to anyone's insurer. Read bicycle accidents for how these claims are built.

Pacific Coast Highway and beach traffic

PCH carries commuters, beachgoers looking for parking, people on foot crossing to the sand and cyclists on the shoulder, all on the same stretch of road. Drivers distracted by the view or by a parking space are behind a lot of the crashes, and people walking and riding are the ones hurt worst. Read pedestrian accidents if you were hit on foot.

Who writes the report

  • City streets, including PCH through town — the Huntington Beach Police Department
  • The 405 — the California Highway Patrol

Get the report number at the scene if you can. If not, note the agency, the date and the nearest cross streets.

Where the injured are taken

Serious injuries from the western part of the county are often taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, a Level II trauma center, or to UCI Medical Center in Orange, the county's only Level I adult trauma center. Children are often taken to the pediatric trauma center at Rady Children's Hospital Orange County, the hospital most people still know as CHOC.

Wherever you were treated, ask for your records and keep every bill and discharge sheet.

Where the case would be heard

An injury lawsuit from a crash in Huntington Beach is heard at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana, along with civil cases from the rest of the county. Most cases settle before trial, but that courthouse is what an insurer weighs when it values a case.
