Mission Viejo Personal Injury Lawyer

Mission Viejo is a short drive from the office in Aliso Viejo, and it is home to South Orange County's trauma center. If you were badly hurt anywhere in South County, there is a good chance you were brought here.

The South County trauma center

Providence Mission Hospital, on Medical Center Road, is a Level II trauma center for both adults and children, and the only one in South Orange County. Serious injuries from Mission Viejo and the cities around it, from San Clemente to Lake Forest, are most often taken there.

Trauma care produces a large, detailed record: the paramedics' run sheet, the trauma team's notes, imaging, surgery. Those records are the foundation of a serious injury claim. Ask for them, and keep every bill and discharge sheet. Read catastrophic injury if the injuries were life-changing.

Who writes the report

Mission Viejo has no police department of its own. It contracts with the Orange County Sheriff's Department, and has since 1988, so a crash on city streets is investigated by sheriff's deputies working as Mission Viejo Police Services.

  • City streets — the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Mission Viejo Police Services
  • The 5 and the toll roads — the California Highway Patrol

Get the report number at the scene if you can. If not, note the agency, the date and the nearest cross streets or exit.

Arterials, schools and the 5

Most of Mission Viejo's traffic moves on a handful of wide, fast arterials, Marguerite Parkway, Crown Valley Parkway and Alicia Parkway among them, which carry commuters to the 5 and pass schools, parks and shopping centers along the way. Speed and turns across several lanes are behind many of the worst crashes, and people walking and riding to school are among those most exposed. Read pedestrian accidents and bicycle accidents if that is what happened.

Where the case would be heard

An injury lawsuit from Mission Viejo is heard at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana, along with civil cases from the rest of the county. Most cases settle before trial, but that courthouse is what an insurer weighs when it values a case.
